Printing the Future

I remember when I first heard about (desktop) 3D printing.  Suddenly, there was another way for me to make anything that I wanted with technology. Since then, 3D printing has made great advances and has become a large part of the technology industry.

What brings me to think about this would be the Netflix documentary Print the Legend (2014). The movie follows two startups, MakerBot and Formlabs, and their journeys to success.

I won't go any further into the movie out of fear of providing possible spoilers. But to say the least, the movie was extremely interesting and I couldn't help but look at the companies' CEO's as "Steve Jobs" (Watch the movie, you'll understand what I mean).

It's been at least 5 years since MakerBot was founded. There has been great progress in the industry such as the creation of a 3D printed heart and a 3D printed circuit board.

It's amazing all the things that technology can do, and with the availability of 3D printers at my school making my first product should be easier than it was before this revolution.
